This water bottle has so many design flaws that are impossible to see from the photos! The cap is hard to get off and then never stays closed, has an odd sized opening for drinking – just a poorly designed bottle. I hate it and it’s about to hit the trash, what a waste.

While this is a great bottle in theory, and easy to open plus BPA-free, the inner lip is not smooth and both my husband and I cut our lips while drinking.

I was thinking of using the bottles for my sons, but with this quality control, no. I’ll stick to another bottle.

I wish I’d read the more negative reviews before I bought this — you can’t tell from the product photo, but the lid is not entirely sealed. So if you’re thinking of throwing this into a gym bag and hoping to keep your drinking surface relatively germ free (as I was), this isn’t the bottle for you. A large strip of the drinking area is exposed on a side of the lid not visible in the picture. Considering that’s what I got this bottle for, I feel I’ve wasted my money. And since others have complained that this bottle leaks when tilted upside down, I’d say this bottle is probably perfect for biking — when left right-side-up in the cage. But NOT to be used for gym bags, on-the-go bags, etc. A terrible design flaw — Nalgene, would it REALLY have cost that much more to have a cap that was completely enclosed? Because that’s what I thought I was getting.

I bought this water bottle when I started the p90x workout program because I had to drink a lot more water than I was used to. I used it every day for about 3 months, filling it up about 4 times a day. I never had any leaking problems, and it fit in my cupholder in my car.

But this water bottle has one fatal flaw: the plastic that the lid is made of (the colored part that actually moves, not the black base of the lid) is made of a very cheap, fragile plastic. After about 3 months of constant use, the two upper “prongs” that helped hold the lid on both snapped off within the span of a week. Now I can still sort of use it… the lid stays on for the most part, but I am very disappointed. One of the main reasons I bought this water bottle instead of another was that it was the Nalgene brand, and they are known for their durability.

I will probably go get another Nalgene bottle, but the ones with a screw on lid. Those don’t break. I would recommend you do the same.

I got this Nalgene last year. While it’s great to carry around in your hand, i would not let roll around in my bag. The top is very easy to open and it’s hard to know if you’ve fully closed it or not. It has opened twice in my bag– one time while at class (the water ended up soaking my books and myw allet) and another one when i was at the gym. The water filled up my plastic lined gym bag and my phone AND my ipod were soaked! Invest in a safer nalgene!
