I have long since loved the company of camelbak and used their hydration packs often, so I became excited when I saw this bottle. At first, I mixed gatorade in the bottle, it did not leak as advertised. I could hold it upside down and shake it and I would not notice any leaking. However, I did eventually notice that drops would come out of the air-valve if i shook the bottle harshly, so I would recommend swirling to mix drinks.. not shaking.

My biggest complaint comes from when I tried to store soda in the bottle. In a matter of 15 minutes, the bottle leaked 12 ounces of soda (that’s an entire can-full) in the UPRIGHT position, which nearly ruined a $50 book and a $2000 laptop. What happens is that the bottle becomes an effective pressure vessel when carbon dioxide turns to gas form from the soda, and the “straw” turns this into something much like a keg. The pressure forces the soda up the straw and out of the bite valve, and it will even do this with a little bit of soda in there. The pressure inside is so great that it actually shoots the soda out a few feet. However, it is possible that removing the straw may eliminate some of this.

My recommendation is to only use this bottle for non-carbonated drinks, do not shake it, and try to store it in an upright position when in a car. If you want to store carbonated drinks, you’re much better off with a regular nalgene bottle.

Edit: After emailing camelbak about the carbonation issue, they have informed me that they are making a change to their packaging to warn of this issue.

I purchased several of these bottles and all but one (one of the blue ones) are wonderful. The one bottle doesn’t suck (draw water from the mouthpiece)well, can this be corrected? Could you send me another cap with mouthpiece for the one bottle?

I love this bottle for all of its functions & ease of use & how much water it enables me to drink in a day. However, I relaized after I purchased it that Polycarbonate causes cancer. (#7 on the bottom) I still use it and am sad that I have 2 more coming that I had ordered for Christmas presents, not knowing that this was the case. I gave it a 3 because of the cancer thing, I verified this with several web sites.

These are the old model, made of Lexan, that leaches Bisphenol A.

Sadly I have a few of these that I am tossing out for Camelbak’s new Tritan model. (Bisphenol free)

Should A Water Bottle Come With Instructions? The Answer Is Yes When Refering To The Camelbak 32Oz. Better Bottle. The Bite Valve Is And Still Remains A Mystery To Me. I Bite And Have Flashbacks Of A Baby Bottle Nipple. Not Enough Liquid Entering The Mouth. I Took The Valve Off And It Works Better For Me. Although Without The Bite Valve The Bottle Loses Its Spillproof Lable. Inovative Handle Molded Onto The Bottle Cap. Plus Bottle Appears To Be Very Durable.
