Review by Drew Gagliano for Klean Kanteen Wide Mouth Stainless Steel Water Bottle (64-Ounce) Rating: I purchased this to replace a 1.5L SIGG bottle with the old golden colored liner after SIGG announced it contains BPA.

It works exactly as advertised, the lid makes a good seal, and it appears to be well made. There is absolutely no detectable metallic taste or any other taste to the water out of this bottle.

I highly recommend these for anyone looking to get away from the lined aluminum bottles and move toward something inert like stainless steel. It's good piece of mind to know that it won't be leeching any chemicals into the water stored within it.

I was excited to get a bottle that was larger for long outings. Well, the bottle makes my water taste like metal. It is so strong that it is hard for me to drink out of it. I have had it now for at least a month and even still leaves a very metallic aftertaste. I will not be purchasing another kleen kanteen, but I do like the size and the wide mouth.

I garden by day and the large size works great. The wide mouth makes it really easy to clean. It's so much better than using plastic bottles!

It's a bit costly but worthy. I would strongly recommend this product to purchase at cheaper prices at your local stores. Target, Kmart, Walmart, Costco, Big 5.

I find this filter to be entirely underwhelming in terms of it's filtration performance, and a poor value for it's price. The ONLY reason I buy these filters is because the house I bought has a fairly new refrigerator that requires them, at a rate of 2 per year.

Performance wise, these filters are just barely able to handle chlorine and particulates, and (for a little while) lead and mercury, and that's about it ... in other words, they'll turn cloudy water clear. The specs claim it's also sufficient for "taste", but my direct experience says otherwise. The performance is so mediocre, I installed a seperate (and far superior) filtration system for my kitchen sink, and I only use the fridge filter for ice ... and reluctantly at that, since the ice has an off-taste.

Bottom line: if you own a refrigerator that requires these filters, you're pretty much stuck with them ... unless of course you're willing and able to install a higher quality filtration system (e.g., reverse osmosis) upstream of the water input. It's extremely irritating to have to spend $60+/yr on filters that perform so poorly.

It is very easy to install, it took less than a minute, which was great.
I followed the directions and threw out the first couple of batches of ice and water. So far I've had it in for about 3 weeks and the water and ice taste great.

This is a great price for these refrigerator water filters. I checked all over town and couldn't find this particular filter at any store other than Sear's. It was less expensive here, and it was a real Amana filter for our Amana refrigerator, not a Kenmore or other brand. You can really save by buying three at a time.
