This has been the problem with plastic bottles with over 60,000,000 of them used and thrown away each day in the US! They can take thousands of years to break down and cause our landfills to become so full.
If you have read the press lately you will know that we have thousands of toxic chemicals in our water supplies and so the ultimate solution for good health is to have a home filtration system of some kind and bottle your own water!

If you do a little research you can find high quality eco friendly water bottles that are either glass or stainless steel, depending on your preference and that are free from any chemicals. Be aware that some still may contain harmful chemicals in the lining so check the site carefully.

It’s scary to think what we will do in the future with sixty million plastic bottles being thrown away each day, as one day we are surely going to run out of space and options.

It is up to us to be more earth friendly and avoid filling up the landfills with unnecessary waste when such easy and eco friendly alternatives are available to us.

The popularity of plastic containers is somewhat amazing when you think about it. Nothing tastes as good after it has been stored in plastic. Yet, most of us eat and drink out of plastic containers every day. Then, we throw them away.

24% is the current recycling rate in the US. So, while you might recycle a bottle, at least three other people are throwing theirs in the regular trashcan. Don’t stop recycling. Just ask your friends to recycle, too. And, while you’re at it, try to create less trash in your home. It isn’t that hard to do.

Most people don’t like the taste or the smell of tap water, but drinking it is the most environmentally minded option. It is also the most economical, costing less than 10% of the cost of buying bottled.

If you install a home purifier and buy eco friendly water bottles made of glass, you can have something great tasting and economical in your kitchen, at all times. You can carry them with you wherever you go.

You’ll never need to buy another bottle of Dasani or Aquafina. Buying from those companies doesn’t make sense, anyway. They use public sources. They may run it through a reverse osmosis system, but that doesn’t make it any better than what comes out of your tap.

Reverse osmosis is old technology that does not remove the chemicals that are so prevalent in today’s surface and groundwater. The technology was designed to remove dirt, particles, sand and minerals. Traces of minerals are actually good for our health and more satisfying to our taste buds. De-mineralized or distilled waters taste stale.

Once you start drinking out of eco friendly water bottles made of glass, you will notice the difference. We get used to the taste of plastic, after a while, and we don’t notice it. But, when we stop and then go back, we wonder how we could have ever stomached it.

The same thing is true for people that get used to drinking chlorinated tap-water. It tastes okay, but once they install a purifier and taste the difference, they never want to go back. So, buy a purifier and bottle your own in eco friendly water bottles made of glass. That’s your best choice.

Members of environmental groups around the country are making a conscious effort to drink more tap-water and buy less bottled, but the quality of our tap water is just not that good. Most treatment facilities use chlorine or other chemical disinfectants, which are bad tasting and actually dehydrating. But, that’s not the worst part. The use of any kind of disinfectant creates byproducts. Known as THMs or DBPs, exposure to those byproducts increases our risk of cancer. Only a few of the home purifiers on the market remove THMs. You can check by reading the product performance data for the purifier that you are about to buy.
You have no doubt seen that some bottling companies claim to have switched to an eco friendly water bottle. There is no such thing.

There are bottles that are lighter in weight and composed of less plastic. So, they create less of a burden on the environment than the regular sized bottles, but they still create a burden. All plastics do.

The only truly eco friendly water bottle is one that is made out of glass. It is reusable and dishwasher safe. The glass does not absorb odors and noxious gases cannot pass through it. If you stored a plastic container filled with water in the garage next to a can of gasoline, in a very short period of time, the water would taste and smell like the gasoline. To drink it would make you ill.

People think that plastic is safer to carry around than glass, but there are shatter resistant drinking containers. There are also cushioned carryalls that help protect them even further.

The price of an eco friendly water bottle made of glass is no more than some plastics. In fact, some purifier manufacturers give you a free one with every purchase. Now, that’s a green deal.

It seems like every time you turn your head, plastic water bottles are getting a bad rap. They have alot of things going for them: they are light, convenient and sanitary. But are plastic water bottles eco friendly? The short answer is “no.” If you would like a more detailed explanation, read on.

First, anything that is not reusable ends up in a landfill. You might put the bottle in a recycling bin, but more than 70% of the US population does not.

Creating the plastics uses natural resources. Natural gas and water are used to create the bottle. Gasoline and oil are used to transport it. If you imagine half of that bottle being filled with crude oil, then you have an idea of how much of our non-renewable resources are used to create each bottle.

Freshwater is necessary to create fill and transport the bottle. For each one that you drink, you may as well be poring two more on the ground. Our freshwater supplies are limited. Saltwater intrusion is already becoming a problem in coastal areas.

So, now what do you think? Are plastic water bottles eco friendly?

You might be thinking about the reusable ones that you can use for hiking or day trips. You can fill them from your tap, save some money and save the planet’s resources. Right?

Although new regulations are changing the material that those canteens and jugs are made of, they still leach contaminants into any fluids stored in them. If you put them in a dishwasher or microwave, the plastics are broken down further and more contaminants will seep out.

After a while, you will start to notice that the smell and taste are not so pleasant. What you may not notice is the damage that the chemicals used to create the plastics are doing to your internal organs.

So, are plastic water bottles eco friendly? Are they safe to drink from? They are not an environmentally friendly choice, nor are they the safest option for drinking.

The best choice is to buy a home purifier. You’ll save money. You’ll remove the contaminants that treatment facilities cannot. You can buy reusable glass containers and shoulder bags to carry them in. What you bottle at home will taste far better than anything that you can buy in a store and it will be better for your health.

If you are still wondering are plastic water bottles eco friendly, then I have failed to make my case. As someone that cares about the environment and future generations, I hope you will at least consider using less plastic.

Did you know for example that over sixty million plastic bottles are used and thrown away each day in the US alone? Just think what that number is for the whole world! If you select the right one, then your health and that of our planet can improve and here’s how.

Did you know for example that over sixty million plastic bottles are used and thrown away each day in the US alone? Just think what that number is for the whole world!

With an eco friendly water bottle you are contributing towards reducing that number by using the same container over and over again and hopefully not buying or using any plastic bottles again for your water.

When you consider that bottled water is no better for you than the tap variety and in many cases is the same poor quality and comes from the very same source but costs $2 – $4 a gallon!

The best eco friendly ones are either glass which is of course 100% recyclable or stainless steel. Some very nice stainless steel ones have recently come out but you need to check that they have no chemical lining and are BPA free.

Plastic bottles and bottles with plastic lids all leach traces of certain chemicals into the water they contact and present a health risk with long term use.

The best thing you can do for your health is to use a home filtration system of some kind to give you pure healthy water to bottle your own with. When you consider we have pesticides, herbicides, prescription drugs and chlorine in our drinking water, it makes sense these days.

An eco friendly water bottle is essential these days if you want to stay healthy and contribute to saving the planet as we will soon come to a point where we simply run out of space and options as our landfills overflow.

A toxic future is something we can help to avoid by starting to become more earth friendly and make small and simple switches to alternative products and ways of doing things, like bottling your own water for starters.

Visit my website today if you would like to learn more about the type of eco friendly water bottle that I personally recommend and use.

If you can believe it, around 60,000,000 plastic bottles are used and discarded every single day in the US, adding to the already overflowing landfills full of toxic waste.

The sad fact is that the answer to, are plastic water bottles eco friendly is no. Only a few these days are as it costs more to manufacture them and therefore it lowers the company’s profits.

In addition, bottled water is no better for you than the tap variety, both being full of hundreds of toxic chemicals and often coming from the same source, yet costs anywhere from $2 – $4 a gallon for the privilege!

There are a few exceptional eco friendly plastic water bottles to be found, with the best being made of glass or a special stainless steel. You should ensure they are BPA free which means they will not leach out any chemicals into your water.

The best stainless steel ones have no chemical lining or plastic caps as these can still present an opportunity from chemicals to get into the contents. This is the problem that affects many of us today when we use ordinary plastic bottles.

The long term health effects are not fully known but it is not safe to leave any liquids sitting in your fridge or cupboards in a plastic container as the risks are too high and you are contributing to the landfill problems too.

The ultimate way to go is to install a home filtration system to remove all the harmful contaminants that exist in our supplies today and bottle your own healthy water for your trips out!

I always used to buy drinks out, especially for the kids and invariably in plastic bottles but now use glass bottles at home and chill them in the fridge ready to go out with.

It’s just simple and small changes to our habits that we need to do in order to become more earth friendly and promote our health as well. I hope I have helped to answer the question are plastic water bottles eco friendly and that you will try to only use eco friendly glass or stainless steel containers for the future.
